My wife Pamela and I
began the Community Alcohol and Drug Program, Inc. in 1989. We
were a leading provider of alcohol and drug related traffic offender’s
education and treatment services in southwest Missouri with offices
in 4 counties. Our program was a private provider and did not
receive or desire state or federal funding. We were highly successful
and maintained our personal and professional credibility at every
level of community involvement.
Caring for children has been part of our lives for the last 14 years. We became
state certified foster parents in order to provide care for displaced children.
We found our desire
to care for children as newborn infants to be extremely fulfilling for us.
These infants are adopted into loving families. We have loved and cared for
over 70 children in this work. Our longest case was 7 months. Our most brief
case was 4 hours. They are all pure joy for us.
Our personal goal was to retire where we had traveled many times in Asia, and
help meet the needs of the local people. God’s timetable was different
from our own, however, and I found myself medically retired with a brain condition
in 2000. This unexpected illness was not reversible nor expected to improve.
With proper care I could expect to remain stable and comfortable with a normal
life expectancy. We were very grateful for this final outcome. We proceeded
to Thailand to begin our volunteer work.
Our presence was mainly in Thailand and the Philippines and allowed us to assist
ministers and work in the orphanages of these countries. My health began to
deteriorate again and over a five year period I recovered from multiple brain
operations to treat my illness. My last operation in Bangkok was very successful
and placed me on a path of service back in America.
We returned to Missouri even though our hearts still felt concern for the children
of Asia. The daily feeding programs where my wife spent much time still motivate
us to provide. They will receive rice, clean drinking water and medical supplies
from our efforts as God provides. In the King James Bible, Matthew 25:45, "Then
shall he answer them saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not
to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me."
Respectfully,
Pamela and Howard Denny
